Perovskite solar cells have shown great technological advances in their first decade of research. It is the photovoltaic material for solar cells with the fastest advance in history. Due to its tunable energy band gap in the visible light spectrum, its high absorption coefficient and its high efficiency, perovskite has shown to have the potential to overcome silicon.
