In-depth profile of the coastal Maine town of Rockport, whose 3,300+ residents debate how to revitalize their downtown with passion. Changes in lime manufacturing and the construction of Route 1 contributed to Rockport\u27s decline, although artists, photographers, and musicians flocked to the cultural and educational institutions that had grown up in the town. In the early 2000s, most of downtown was shuttered. This was when a national investment firm called Leucadia National Corporation arrived on the scene. Leucadia worked with a group of nonprofit and business leaders to develop a vision for the town. Residents have been vocal and passionate about changes, not always agreeing, but always weighing in
