The Effect of Specialized Nutritional Education on the Nutritional Intake of Pressure Injury Patients. Problem: Malnutrition has been found to be a risk factor for hospital acquired pressure injuries, Not much is known about the benefits of educating patients on the importance of nutrition in pressure injury care. In pressure ulcer patients in a hospital setting, how does once-a-day education on proper nutrition for effective wound healing effect meal and oral nutritional supplement consumption compared with patients who do not receive education during a 30-day period? Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of once-a-day nutritional education on the consumption of meals and oral nutritional supplementation in pressure injury patients compared to pressure injury patients who do not receive once-a-day education. Methods: This is a quantitative quasi-experimental study that educates an intervention group once-a-day on how proper nutrition improves pressure injury healing. It utilizes pre-surveys and post-surveys along with recording daily intake of patients. Conclusion: Daily nutritional education may be one intervention to improve the nutritional intake of pressure injury patients leading to improved healing. Implementing this intervention can lower healthcare costs, shorten length of stay, and increase patient satisfaction
