Gender Politics in the United States

The purpose of this article is to examine the reasons for the unequal political representation of women in the United States. In particular to identify the factors that contribute to the low representation of women in the American political system; How priority is this problem today and specifically what kind of mechanisms the state is trying to overcome the under-representation of women. Groups of women who participate and are involved in promoting women's empowerment and political participation do not support the legislative quota strategy, so it is extremely important to study the role, initiatives and approaches of women's organizations in stimulating women's political participation. Moreover, there is only one type of intervention compared to other strategies: These are the implementation of training or other types of education programs for women interested in politics. We can conclude that the lack of legislative quotas initiative in American civil society and the unpopularity of the idea in general may be related to the lack of mobilization around the idea of quotas in women's organizations
