La deforestación de los bosques de la provincia de Putumayo, Región Loreto, Perú en tiempos de pandemia (Covid-19)

The general objective of this research was to compare the level of deforestation and the loss of biomass in the forests of the Putumayo Province, Loreto Region, Peru, in the first months in which social isolation due to Covid-19 was decreed in this country in 2020, compared to the previous year. Likewise, the volume of CO2 released as a result of this practice developed in the forests was calculated and compared. For this, the software of geographic information systems Earth Explorer, CLASlite and ArcGIS were used. Comparing the months of April and May 2020, with the same months of the previous year, it was determined that there was a reduction of 27.03% in total deforestation, losing 7,136.05 ha of forest, however, there was an increase in deforestation of 6.5% in primary forests. Likewise, during the aforementioned study period, a biomass loss of 371,117.49 t was calculated, equivalent to 681,000.60 t of CO2 released in times of pandemic, contributing to the greenhouse effect.La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general comparar el nivel de deforestación y la pérdida de biomasa en los bosques de la Provincia de Putumayo, Región Loreto, Perú, en los primeros meses en los que se decretó el aislamiento social por Covid-19 en este país en el año 2020, respecto al año anterior. Asimismo, se calculó y comparó el volumen de CO2 liberado producto de esta práctica desarrollada en los bosques. Para ello, se emplearon los softwaresde sistemas de información geográfica Earth Explorer, CLASlite y ArcGIS. Comparando los meses de abril y mayo del 2020, con los mismos meses del año anterior, se determinó que hubo una reducción del 27.03 % de la deforestación total, perdiéndose 7,136.05 ha de bosque, sin embargo, hubo un incremento de la deforestación del 6.5 % en los bosques primarios. Asimismo, durante el periodo de estudio mencionado, se calculó una pérdida de biomasa de 371,117.49 t, equivalente a 681,000.60 t de CO2 liberado en tiempos de pandemia, contribuyendo al efecto invernadero
