Swimming Mobility and Chemotaxis of Soil Bacteria

This thesis is comprised of four chapters. The first chapter outlines the background and rationale of this research. Chapter 2 describes and discusses the swimming strategy of five important soil bacteria, and Chapter 3 describes and discusses chemotaxis of the soft rot pathogen Pectobacterium carotovorum. Chapters 2 and 3 are written in the style of scientific papers each containing an abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion. The final chapter summarises and discusses the findings as a whole
