When a model from Catastrophe Theory has been built for a particular phenomenon stochastic perturbations should, in some cases, be taken into account, because sudden jumps may occur for values of the external parameters other than those in the catastrophe set of just because of the noise in the dynamics of the external parameters. This is the subject of chapters two and three.In some cases where a model has been built for a certain phenomenon it may occur that the singularities of the functions arising from that model are some of the elementary catastrophes.
