In 2003, a convolute containing several manuscripts dealing mostly with Celeian inscriptions was found in an antiquities shop in Vienna. The attention was firstly focused on the manuscript entitled "Mercurius et cornuta figura" consisting of four pages, which deals with the lost inscribed monument with a relief of Mercury from Celeia. Upon a detailed analysis of the convolute, it was discovered that it also contains a letter written by Andreas Dragerus, where the author (here known) focuses on the same monument. Data from both manuscripts add to our knowledge about the currently lost monument due to the fact that the circumstances of the find are described in detail.
