This thesis mainly attempts to analyze the impact of French regulatory policies of the auction industry in the 19th century on the art market by studying the development of the Hôtel Drouot. This thesis is divided into three parts to discuss, the first part, the history of the Hôtel Drouot; the second part, the historical background of the 19th century; the third part, some regulatory policies that have a decisive impact on the auction market, and their impact. Through analysis, the author finally concludes that the strict supervision of the auction industry in France in the 19th century contributed a lot to the prosperity of the auction market in the second half of the 19th century
