Dr. Yekelchyk is a prolific scholar with expertise in the social and political history of Russia, Ukraine, and the Soviet Union. Media outlets such as The Washington Post, Politico, and The New York Times have published his political analysis. Dr. Yekelchyk’s books include Stalin’s Empire of Memory: Russian-Ukrainian Relations in the Soviet Historical Imagination (2004) and Ukraine: Birth of a Modern Nation (2007), the first Western history of Ukraine to include the coverage of the Orange Revolution, translated into five languages.
