This article aims to analyze, through the approach of Cultural History, amateur theater cratense during the first decades of the twentieth century. In this period, an amateur theater was developed in the main Brazilian capitals, characterized by groups that created their shows to be presented to the various social strata and who escaped from the commercial logic of a professional theater, as was the case in Rio de Janeiro. In the city of Crato, interior of Ceará, an amateur theater group was formed in 1942, formed by adolescents who received the guidance of an intellectual elite formed by doctors, lawyers, politicians, and local merchants.
