In this study levofloxacin hemihydrate mucoadhesive microcapsules were prepared by ion gelation method. Various concentration of sodium alginate and calcium chloride was used along with chitosan to investigate the parameter on percentage yield, particle size, mucoadhesiveness, surface morphology of microspheres and drug release. The standard curve of levofloxacin hemihydrate was plotted in 0.1 N HCl [pH 1.2] at 370C. It was found to be linear for the concentration ranges from 01 μgm/ml to 10 μgm/ml [R2 =0.9957] for levofloxacin hemihydrat
