Protective Effect of Delonix Elata on Sensory Motor Deficits in MSG Induced Neuronal Excito Toxicity in Albino Rats

The study revealed that among various extracts, the ethayl acetate leaf extract of Delonix elata were rich in secondary metabolites such as tannins, flavonoids, phenol, steroid, coumarins, quinones, betacyanin, saponins, cardiacglycosides, alkaloids and terpenoids.The study was undertaken to evaluate the probable neuroprotective effects of pre- treatment of ethyl acetate extract of Delonix elata leaves against monosodium glutamate- induced excito toxicity model in Sprague Dawley rats. The protective effeect of EEDE was evaluated for motor coordination using foot fault test. The total number of foot faults were reduced significantly in EEDE treated group when compared to control.Number of foot faults attenuated in EEDE and MMT than MSG treated group(P<0.05*).Total number of steps was significantly reduced in MSG treated group when compared with that of control (P<0.0001****) and standard (P<0.001**).
