The literature survey revealed that very less amount of pharmacological work has been carried out on Dichrostachys cinerea (L.) Wight andArn. Also it was observed from Ayurvedic literature and ethno botanical studies shows that the leaf is useful in the treatment of diabetes. But no scientific investigation has been done in such direction. Therefore it was a through work to carry out Preliminary Phytochemical screening, isolation and characterization of isolated compound by UV, IR and HPTLC analysis and pharmacological investigation of anti diabetic property
