Chaperone oligomers exist in cell cytosols as preassembled heterocomplexes that function as protein-folding molecular machines able to assemble essential proteins related to families that embrace steroid receptors, protein-kinases, ubiquitin-ligases, and transcription factors, among other families of key proteins.
