The focus of this study was on the effects of insulation quality of different expanded polystyrene (EPS) packaging for transportation of fresh fish fillets. In the first part of the thesis three experiments were conducted where the melting rate of ice was monitored for different EPS boxes. In the second part of the thesis, fresh fish temperature was mapped with different EPS boxes during transportation with an airplane. Sufficient temperature control during the transportation of fresh fish is vital for the maintenance of quality. Different types of EPS boxes are compared with respect to insulation quality and the temperature of the product during transportation.
