ESTUDIO MORFOLÓGICO DE Ceramium clarionense SETCHELL & N. L. GARDNER (CERAMIACEAE, CERAMIALES, RHODOPHYTA), UNA NOVEDAD PARA EL MAR CARIBE

COMPENDIOEl registro de Ceramium clarionense en la costa de Venezuela representa laprimera cita de esta especie para el Mar Caribe. Se caracteriza por la presenciade siete a ocho células periaxiales, cada una produciendo una célulapseudoperiaxial, una o dos hileras de células basípetas, abundantes ramasadventicias, ápices fuertemente forcipados y tetrasporangios emergentes enverticilos y con involucros corticales. Se presenta una descripción de la especiecon datos morfológicos, vegetativos y reproductivos.ABSTRACTThe occurrence of Ceramium clarionense from Venezuela coast is the firstreport in the Caribbean Sea. This is characterized by seven-eight periaxialscells, each one laterally producing a pseudoperiaxial cell, one to two rows ofbasipetals cells, adventitious branches frequent, forcipate apices and emergenttetrasporangia whorled with cortical involucres.
