Communication and Psychology of Religious Behavior (Case Study of Religious Leaders in Jatinom Klaten)

Communication is related to human behavior so that relations and connections and collaboration between humans will be built. With communication we form mutual understanding, friendship, spread love, preserve civilization and change behavior. Humans are social creatures, and humans are not able to live alone in a physical context or in a socio-cultural context. Especially in the socio-cultural context, humans collaborate with each other in fulfilling the needs of one another's social functions. Humans with their minds are able to develop their highest abilities as God's creatures who have spiritual abilities. The purpose of this study was to determine how the influence of communication on religious behavior according to cultural figures. The research method uses qualitative methods, data collection with semi-structured interviews and observations at Jatinom Mosque, Klaten. The sample taken were cultural and religious leaders in Jatinom Klaten who were local religious leaders. This research shows that in communication there is a change in mindset such as feeling afraid of God, so that it is reduced behavior in guarding oneself from deviant actions, mindset in communication becomes more considerate before acting with manners including being cultured. It can be concluded that there is an influence of communication on behavior which implies that communication can affect psychological aspects such as religious feelings which in religion reduce good and bad behavior so that it affects human behavior.
