This article presents partial results of a broader investigation, which aims to identify the pedagogical potential of academic productions that advocate the use of history for teaching mathematics (HEnM) and for training teachers in the early years. It is a qualitative research with an analytical approach of the research research type, based on the propositions of Sanchez Gamboa (2012). The studies were based on Theses and Dissertations in the History of Mathematics (HM), produced from 1990 to 2018 in the Brazilian Postgraduate Program. 698 researches were selected in consultation with specialized websites, classified in the 3 types of study defined by Mendes (2012, 2018).
