This text reports an experience of pedagogical practice developed in 2020 with 20 students from the 9th grade of elementary school of a school in the municipal network of Poço Redondo (SE), with the aim of diagnostically evaluating the object of knowledge that deals with the sets of natural, integer, rational, irrational, and real numbers studied by them in previous years. For that, in this text, aspects about pedagogical practice, evaluation and discussions about teaching materials made by authors that approach the written theme are discussed.
