Sécurisation des smart cards par masquage de signal informationnel sur canal secondaire

Smart Cards are embedded computers making cryptographie operations in order to store confidential data, as money, biometrie information, and access rights management. Thus, it is not surprising that hackers try to intercept them by catching and processing leakages observed on side channel. This thesis aims to design new signal processing techniques for signal hiding used on current consumptions to prevent hackers to perform power analysis attacks. The first introductive chapter makes fall down into Smart Cards world. It allows defining the main objective: to design signal hiding techniques matching with Smart Cards technical requirements. The second chapter présents the study and the statistical characterization of a chaotic dynarnical system, used to pseudo-random numbers génération. From one hand, it will be intensively used in the next chapter, and from the other hand it allows to validate a parallel work leaded by a microelectronic research team. The next chapter présents the signal expansion hiding technique, which consist to swap original signal samples by its Karhunen-loeve expansion coefficients, order 2 uncorrelated. Finally, a last chapter presents another signal hiding technique where thé model used for the observation is parametric. Parameîer is estimatcd following thé maximum likelihood criterion with the help of a new technique based on the couplingof the stochastic matched filtering theory used in détection with the Expcctation-Maximizatïon algorithm. Ail the presented techniques are validated with expérimentations on real signais.Les cartes à puce, mondialement appelées Smart Cards, sont de véritables ordinateurs embarqués dont le but est d'effectuer des opérations de cryptographie et de stocker des données confidentielles, telles que des sommes d'argent, des informations biométriques, des droits d'accès. Il n'est donc pas étonnant que les pirates tentent de s'accaparer ces données, par des failles où la carte laisse fuir des informations capitales, appelées canaux secondaires. Le but de cette thèse est de concevoir des techniques de traitement du signal de masquage de signaux de consommation de courant. Un premier chapitre introductif présente l'univers de la carte à puce ainsi que les enjeux de sa sécurisation. Cela permet de fixer l'objectif à atteindre qui est de concevoir des techniques de masquage des signaux compatibles avec la technologie Smart Card. Le second chapitre présente l'étude et la caractérisation statistique d'un système dynamique chaotique servant à la genèse de nombres pseudo-aléatoires. Le chapitre suivant présente la méthode de masquage par décomposition des signaux, consistant à remplacer les échantillons du signal à masquer par les coefficients de son développement de Karhunen-Loève. Enfin, un dernier chapitre présente une autre technique de masquage des signaux où le modèle utilisé pour la consommation de courant est paramétrique. Le paramètre est estimé selon le critère du maximum de vraisemblance par une technique originale basée sur le couplage du filtrage adapté stochastique utilisé en détection avec l'algorithme Expectation-Maximization.
