It is a proposal for designing and evaluating didactic material to an introduction to Chemistry to educate young and adults. It was an educational process based on the results of contemporary research about teaching Chemistry and the recommendations of the current Brazilian Curriculum Guidelines for this teaching modality. Youth and adults developed a combination of reading activities, interpretation of texts, hands-on activities, and POE (Predict, Observe and Explain), developed in a class of twenty high school students from a public institution in Belem city, Brazil.
