The Bond Graph is examined as a compact and uniform means of describing dynamic systems involving mixed physical domains, with the objective of using it to determine desired system transfer functions. Methods for writing down the Bond Graphs for Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic systems are outlined and techniques for simplifying the resulting graphs are examined. Once the simplified graph has been obtained it is shown that useful transfer functions may readily be derived. A number of examples are presented which illustrate the Bond Graph techniques applied to these different systems, including those with active elements and parallel signal paths.Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department o
