The present study investigated the relationship between internal and external psychological stress indices and their relationship to physical health symptoms for individuals over a seven-week period of time. Internal psychological stress indices included a measure of experienced arousal, as well as measures of experienced specific affect states of happiness, anger, fear, and depression. External psychological stress indices included a measure of magnitude of life stress events occurring two years prior to the study, as well as a measure of the magnitude of life stress events occurring during the seven-week period of the study.
