This letter, dated January 17, 1956, from Walter Plenty Chief, Sr. to United States (US) Representative Usher Burdick provides Burdick with Plenty Chief\u27s perspective on per capita payments. Plenty Chief expresses sadness over the loss of the bottom lands that are now flooded by the Garrison Dam and says that the people of the tribes want their full share of the money in the form of $1200 per capita payments.
