In the preliminary vote held on September 5, 1950, Cross received the highest number of votes for any person seeking the candidacy. Cross indicates that there may be a high turn over of Tribal Council members, and he feels hopeful that the new council will work against the old ideas and philosophies of the previous council. Cross indicates that he wants to address US Senate Bill 3387 (S. 3387) as soon as he takes office.
