This United States (US) public law, passed on August 11, 1978, offered protection to Indigenous people to freely practice their religion. Prior to the passing of this public law, many Indigenous religious practices were outlawed. This public law granted to Indigenous people in the United States what was already written in the first amendment of the US Constitution.https://commons.und.edu/indigenous-gov-docs/1165/thumbnail.jp
