Konsep Diri Pada Homoseksual (Gay Men) Di Kota Pekanbaru

SELF CONCEPT IN HOMOSEXUAL (GAY MEN) IN PEKANBARU CITY NINA AMIRAH 168110206 ABSTRACT Homosexuals are identified as people who are psychologically and emotionally attracted to both men and women. In addition, these homosexuals also have biological needs like humans in general. Self-presentation as heterosexual does not make it difficult for Homosexuals to build relationships with the opposite sex, a GAY is also very able to maintain speech and behavior towards the opposite sex so that some GAYs are very good at making friendships and very close friendships with the opposite sex. So that these GAYs rarely have trouble finding a place where if they come to a new area for them because these GAYs have a dominant nature of loving and maintaining friendship. This study aims to determine the self-concept of homosexuals (GAY) in the city of Pekanbaru. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. There were 2 informants in this study. Data collection techniques using interviews and observation. From the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that in the process of forming a self-concept, not all of the informants experienced the stages of the process of forming a self-concept. The stages of the process of forming the self-concept of homosexual informants are different. On average, homosexual (gay) informants pass through the identity acceptance stage, namely their acceptance of their sexual identity as homosexual (gay). Factors that influence the concept consist of parenting, depression, failure and internal criticism. From these informants, they have the same self-concept influence factors, namely influenced by parenting patterns, self-concepts that are influenced by depression, self-concepts that are influenced by failure factors and self-concepts that are influenced by internal criticism
