Countermeasures are efforts carried out to prevent, deal with, or overcome a situation including preventive activities and at the same time trying to improve the behavior of someone who has been found guilty (as a prisoner) in a correctional institution, in other words, efforts to prevent theft can be carried out preventively and repressively. Preventive control has the aim of taking preventive steps against various norm violations, while repressive control has the aim of taking action against norm violations, in order to create a deterrent effect for the perpetrators. Countermeasures is a prevention that is useful to minimize events or actions that have occurred so that these events or actions do not happen again. The main problem of this research is what are the factors causing the crime of theft in public transportation cars in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Polresta (Case NO.195/PID.B/2021/PN.PBR.) and how to overcome the crime of theft in public transportation cars by the Pekanbaru Police. The research method used in this research is sociological law research by conducting direct interviews. With the nature of this research is descriptive, namely describing in detail which intends to provide a complete picture and description of the prevention of criminal acts of theft in public transportation cars in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police. The results of the research that the authors get, there are several factors that cause the perpetrators to commit the crime of theft, namely: internal factors (education, lack of or weak faith), external factors (economy, wrong environment, wrong association and illegal drugs). The countermeasures carried out by the Pekanbaru Police are by means of preventive countermeasures, namely how to limit the space for criminals to move so they do not take their actions in the sense that anticipation can start from socializing the law to the community and providing understanding to obey the law and carry out patrols in vulnerable places. Then by means of repressive countermeasures or measurable actions that are carried out if this crime has occurred in the community, starting from investigation, investigation, prosecution until the punishment is imposed
