International industrial design protection is regulated in Article 25 and Article 26 of the TRIPs agreement, Post-independence, the intellectual property rights protection system in Indonesia is developing rapidly, which is marked by the emergence of various laws and ratifications in the field of intellectual property rights. The law in the field of intellectual property rights in effect at that time, Law Number 32 of 2000 concerning Industrial Designs. Therefore Pekanbaru City is an industrial city which is one of the producers of art works in the form of woven rattan handicrafts. Because many people in the Rumbai area sell their handicrafts on the side of the road such as selling tables and chairs made from woven rattan handicrafts. Based on the above background, the author is interested in conducting research on this by taking the main problem, namely How Legal Protection Against Rattan Industrial Design Work in Pekanbaru City, and What Are the Constraint Factors in Legal Protection of Rattan Industrial Design Work in Pekanbaru City. The research method used in this research is observational research or by means of a survey. Observational research is a study that takes a sample from a population and uses interviews and questionnaires as the main data collection tools. The results of this study indicate that in the legal protection provided by the government to rattan craft designers, namely the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Riau Province only to supervise on License ownership by parties using rattan work for Commercial purposes. Meanwhile, for industrial design owners, there is a need for extension action through outreach to all communities in the Riau region, because industrial design is an exclusive right which automatically arises when a creation is realized. There are many factors that cause designers not to register their works of work at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Riau Province, among others, due to the convoluted process, ignorance of registration procedures, high registration fees to ignorance of the design of Intellectual Property rights, and necessity. register the industrial design works
