John Dewey (1916) posited that adapting learning conditions to simulate real life situations was beneficial to education. A wide range of disciplines have implemented role-play exercises to enhance the classroom experience through active learning (Lee & Thue, 2019). An innovative approach is to not only task students to participate in role-play activities but for them to help design these scenarios to feel a part of the entire active learning process.
