The purpose of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is to make the classroom visible for the intent of improving the practices of other teachers (Bernstein, Burnett, Goodburn, & Savory, 2006).Plagiarism has been a well-documented problem in online education with the amount easily of accessible information online. The three ways plagiarism occurs is through theft, deception, and misunderstanding. The focus of this study is the three main types of misunderstanding that emerged from in the literature (cultural, generational, and academic enculturation). Results will be presented regarding the perceptions of online instructors to vignettes for each category of misunderstanding
