Deep-seated gravitationa lslope deformation involving glacial evidence in the Rodoretto Valley (NW Alps)

The RodorettoValley(about25km2) (WesternAlps,NWItaly)shapedinthemetamorphic bedrock, coveredbyQuaternarysediments,isinvolvedinsignificant deep-seated gravitational slopedeformation(DSGSD).Adetailed field surveyrevealedseveralmorpho- structures typicallyrelatedtoDSGSDphenomena(openfractures,doubledridges,scarps, trenches, counterscarpsandbulgingreliefs)andothersignificant gravitational morphologies, heredefined asgravitationalvalleys,notpreviouslyreportedingeological literature.Fieldwork alsoallowedustodistinguishvarioustypesofglacialsediments, reconstructing thesupplybasins,relativelydatingglacialismtoLGMandLateGlacial- Holocene andevaluatingtheirgravitationaldislocation.Thewideextensionofthearea characterized byDSGSDandincrediblybigdimensionofsinglemorpho-structuresarethe most importantrecognizedfeatures.Inparticular,weobservedthatentiresectorsofthe study areaweregravitativelyconditionednotonlybylocalslidalongtheRodorettoslopes but alsobymovementtowardsthenearbyanddeeperGermanascaValley
