Societal Asymmetry Among Queensland’s Japanese and Spanish speaking Migrants: A Macroscopic Perspective

In this paper I will focus on how certain societal and structural parameters, bornin Queensland’s Britannia-centric society in the 18th century, still cometogether to generate a unique societal asymmetry among both its Japanese andSpanish speaking communities. I will first review the migration policiesparticularly held in Queensland (Australia) and then I will examine the factorsshaping Queensland’s societal asymmetry among the two communitiesinvolved. Finally, I will explore past and present sociolinguistic anddemographic data, and the language vitality in education and economy in orderto find the key factors leading to the current state of affairs
