In this essay, specific examples will be made to passages in the Harry Potter books, and to scenes from the Harry Potter films, in order to reveal and explore the connection of classical era medicine, and the Latin language, to give a sense of reality to the fictional Wizarding World. The paper will be broken down into the characters and practices of Hogwarts staff: Madam Poppy Pomfrey, the matron; Professor Pomona Sprout, the Herbology teacher; Professor Remus Lupin, a werewolf who teaches Defence Against the Dark Arts; and Professor Severus Snape, the Potions Master.
