Every preacher is under a debt of lasting gratitude to the patient plodders who have selected the various series of pericopes. The expository preacher especially is happy and contented in mind when he has a preselected portion of Holy Writ before him to be treated homiletically; for he is convinced that the text, the text, is the thing wherein he\u27ll find the message of his King. With this conviction, mingled perhaps with a slight misgiving that the present text is somewhat long, we begin our labor in the Word by reading the seventeen verses in the Authorized Version
