Localização de Faltas em Linhas de Transmissão Através de Transformada de Wavelet Contínua, Pontos de Extremo e Teoria de Ondas Viajantes

ABSTRACTIn this paper, we present a hybrid algorithm for electrical fault locationbased on the traveling wave theory. The temporal location offault points and the first reflected waves has been determined withcontinuous wavelet transforms (CWT) and concepts of extremevalues, respectively. The analyzed signals were created by the softwareATPDraw considering parameters of a real high voltage linesituated between the cities of Pelotas and Candiota, both in thestate of Rio Grande do Sul. Phase-to-ground faults for differenttransmission line lengths, incidence angles, and fault resistanceshave been analyzed. The results showed the efficiency of this typeof algorithm, exhibiting low relative errors, mainly for nonzeroincident angles
