The last discoveries and technology advances in understanding materials and in computation have contributed in the proliferation of the so-called smart materials with a wide applications scope. This thesis enrolls in the frame of piezoelectric actuators rather than pure material considerations. We aim to enhance their models' libraries in order to ease their integration in complex systems design. These models should take into account as more as possible the nonlinear effects (such as hysteresis) while remaining easy to handle.
