Assessment of stressors that contribute to burnout among intercollegiate student-athletes Clinical Scenario: There are numerous stressors that present-day intercollegiate student-athletes have to endure during the course of their academic and athletic careers. A compilation of stressors creates overwhelming feelings that lead to mental, physical, and emotional burnout. There has been an increase in scientific articles that have examined the contributing factors of burnout among athletes as burnout rates have steadily increased over the past 20 years.
