Mathematics education in Japan and the Philippines has undergone various developments. Mathematics education in Japan was rooted in Chinese influence until the emergence of Western arithmetic-Yosan. In the Philippines, Spaniards and Americans contributed greatly to mathematics education until the commencement of the K-12 curriculum in 2013. This study compares mathematics education in both countries by examining their education systems, issues in education, math curricula, textbooks, and lessons. Written materials from different primary sources were gathered, and lesson observations and seminars on math education were conducted to achieve these goals.
