Proposte di Piano per la città di Bogotá in Colombia. Utopia di una modernità tra XIX e XX secolo

The Colombian planning is a modern discipline that has developed with the contribution of Scholars and Researchers in Europe arrived in Colombia in the first half of the Nineteenth Century. The first cartographic representations are of the end of the Eighteenth Century and were made for military foothold. Between 1905 and 1925 over then urban plans were developed for the city of Bogotá, but the first institute of city planning in the Capital was born in 1930 and was directed by the Austrian architect Karl Brunner, author of important projects and urban proposals. In 1947, Le Corbusier arrives to Bogotá and was the author of the “Plan Piloto”, a utopian project for a modern Capital that never was realized. Also in the same year the Italian engineer Angiolo Mazzoni had elaborated development plans for the historic center of Bogota and he had promoted pioneering project and new initiatives. For these important cultural contributions the paper intends to elaborate an history of planning of the Colombian capital, analyzing the main proposals elaborated by European architects and evaluating the results as well as the cultural findings that are transmitted up to the twentieth century
