Programa de intervención: Metacognición y aprender a aprender en 1º de la ESO

Knowledge in our current society is growing exponentially, and all the while we are experiencing a rapid advance in technological development. The way we interact with information has changed, and the demands of our environment are increasing. It is for these reasons that teaching and learning today must be more efficient, and the student should take on a central and active role in their teaching-learning process. In this line, the key competence “learning to learn” of the spanish educational system, seeks to make the student feel the protagonist of their own learning process, so they can reach the goals they set for themselves and acquire a perception of self-efficacy, knowing their own learning processes, and adjusting them to the tasks and problems that may arise. The concept of self-regulated learning establishes the basis to respond to these demands: metacognition, cognition and motivation. The effectiveness of teaching oriented towards the development of metacognitive abilities, which are those that regulate the process of thinking about the functioning and contents of our own mind, has been scientifically proven. In this paper, we explore all these concepts, defining a robust theoretical framework, and elaborating an intervention proposal to bring them to the ESO first grade’s schoolroom, on the one hand, by means of training the teaching staff, and on the other hand, by means of a direct intervention with the students in the classroom.El conocimiento de nuestra sociedad actual está creciendo de manera exponencial y vivimos un rápido avance en el desarrollo tecnológico. La manera en que nos relacionamos con la información ha cambiado, y las demandas de nuestro entorno son cada vez mayores. Es por estos motivos que la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de hoy deben ser más eficientes, y el alumno tomar un rol central y activo en su proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. En esta línea, la competencia básica “aprender a aprender” del sistema educativo español, busca que el estudiante se sienta protagonista de su proceso de aprendizaje, alcance las metas que se proponga y tenga una percepción de autoeficacia, conociendo sus propios procesos de aprendizaje, y ajustándolos a las tareas y actividades que se le presenten. El concepto de aprendizaje autorregulado establece las bases para responder a estas demandas: la metacognición, las cogniciones y la motivación. La evidencia científica avala la efectividad de una enseñanza orientada en torno al desarrollo de las habilidades metacognitivas, que son las que regulan el proceso de pensamiento acerca del funcionamiento y contenido de nuestra mente. En este trabajo, exploramos estos conceptos, definiendo un marco teórico robusto, y se elabora una propuesta de intervención para traerlos al aula en el curso de 1º de la ESO, por un lado, mediante la formación del equipo docente, y por el otro, mediante la intervención directa con los alumnos en la clase
