Otrxs mundxs

At the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, the Museo Tamayo de Arte Contemporáneo presented “Otrxs Mundxs”, an exhibition that, according to the curators, “focused on highlighting otherness from microcosms that question pre-established and hegemonic conceptions, and solidified visions of what it means to make art from Mexico City”. Despite how problematic it was for the critics, the exhibition was still interesting because it showed at the same time the ineffectiveness of the museum to exhibit difference and the institutional crisis it is experiencing. This work aims to point out some of the tensions between subjects and institutions and spaces that Otrxs Mundxs enunciated, at a time when the institutional governing body is increasingly doubted, and in which the subjects perform their subjectivity as never before through digital platforms and devices, allowing us to think of a new public space. Thus, I will point out new spatial conditions related to heterotopic forms, to show that the spatial conceptions of modern institutions such as museums have not been able to manage the difference.ENSAYO ACADÉMICO A fínales del 2020 y comienzos del 2021, el Museo Tamayo de Arte Contemporáneo presentó “Otrxs Mundxs”, una muestra que, según los curadores, se enfocaba en “resaltar la otredad a partir de microcosmos que cuestionan las concepciones  preestablecidas y hegemónicas, y  solidificaba  visiones de lo que significa hacer arte desde la Ciudad de México”. A pesar de lo problemática que fue para la crítica, la exposición no dejaba de ser interesante porque mostraba al mismo tiempo la inoperancia del museo para exhibir la diferencia y la crisis institucional que vive. Este trabajo pretende señalar algunas de las tensiones entre sujetos e instituciones y espacios que enunciaba esa exposición, en un momento en que se duda cada vez más de la instancia rectora institucional, y en el que los sujetos “performan” su subjetividad como nunca antes a través de plataformas digitales y dispositivos, permitiendo pensar en un nuevo espacio público. Así, señalaré nuevas condiciones espaciales que tienen que ver con formas heterotópicas para mostrar que las concepciones espaciales de las instituciones modernas como los museos no han podido gestionar la diferencia
