Objectives To study the association of hypertriglyceridemia and of lipid tolerance with clinical and nutritional data in preterm infants receiving routine parenteral nutrition. Design We retrospectively studied 672 preterm infants (gestational age 250 mg dL −1. Lipid tolerance was defined as the ratio of plasma triglycerides to the intravenous lipid intake at the time of sampling. Variables associated to hypertriglyceridemia and to lipid tolerance were identified by multiple logistic and linear regression analyses.
