The study was quasi-experimental design which was intended to get the empirical evidence of the effect of three-step interview technique on students? speaking skill. The population was the eight grade students of SMPN 3 Tangerang Selatan. The sample was 78 students chosen through purposive sampling technique and classified into two classes, experimental and controlled class. The instruments were speaking test and interview. The test was given at the beginning and at the end of the treatment by using three-step interview technique. The data of pre-test and post-test were analyzed by using t-test.
