Stages of achieving self-actualization of the main character In the revenant film based on hierarchy of human needs by Abraham maslow

This research discusses how the main character in the film the revenant (2015) named hugh glass, can achieve his human needs. In survival, a person can survive or not depending on how he faces it because not everyone can endure unpleasant circumstances. However, a person can stay if he has goals that one needs to achieve. Therefore, this study aims to know and analyze the main character in the film to fulfill his human needs, and what needs he wants to accomplish by surviving in challenging circumstances. This research will use the approach of literary psychology, and the theory used is humanistic psychology and motivation based on Abraham Maslow's perspective. This study will use a qualitative descriptive method with data observation techniques in the form of indirect or non-participant observation because the object of this research is the film text, namely the revenant. The data obtained are in the form of results from watching, storing, recording, and analyzing what the main character does in the film. The results of this research is hugh glass is described as the main character who has a strong personality, courageous, wise, not easily influenced, trustworthy and ambitious. The characterizations are described using characterizations through dialogue and internal action methods by petrie and boggs in art of watching film. The second result is that hugh gass can meet the stages of basic human needs based on maslow's theory such as fulfilling his psychological needs, belonging and love, self-esteem needs, so that he arrives at the stage of self-actualization. Hugh glass can fulfill his needs and achieve his desires well, although he can't get one need because hugh glass is in a forest which is far from safe and comfortable, but he still fulfills his other needs to achieve his goals, all that he can do because he believes in its potential.viii, 60 hlm, 25 c
