PENGELOLAAN KADAR GLUKOSA DARAH PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELLITUS TIPE II DENGAN PEMBERIAN JUS BUAH NAGA MERAH DI DESA LUMANSARI KECAMATAN GEMUH KABUPATEN KENDAL

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease that causes 70% of total deaths in the world. Only about 25% of diabetics know that they have diabetes, one of which is in the Kendal Regency area, namely Lumansari Village. 10 people in the village know that their blood sugar levels are high and have not managed their blood sugar levels to keep them under control. Management of blood sugar levels can be done with physical activity and nutritional management. In the nutritional management of diabetics, it is recommended to apply the 3J principle, which is to eat regularly with foods that are low in fat, and high in fiber, and limit the number of carbohydrates. One of the foods that contain high fiber is red dragon fruit because 100 grams of fruit flesh contains 3.20 grams of fiber.Purpose: To determine the management of blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by giving red dragon fruit juice in Lumansari Village, Gemuh District, Kendal City.Method: This scientific work uses a case study design by applying the results of research on giving 250 ml of red dragon fruit juice for 10 consecutive days involving 3 respondents with type 2 diabetes mellitus. blood sugar levels.Results: The next problem that occurred in the three respondents was the instability of blood glucose levels in contact with insulin resistance, after giving 250 ml of dragon fruit juice for 10 consecutive days the problem was resolved by decreasing the decrease in blood glucose in Mr. Su at 67 mg/dL and Mrs. Y is 61 mg/dL. While at Mr. So there is an increase in blood glucose levels of 16 mg/dL.Discussion: The decrease in blood glucose levels that occurred after administration of red dragon fruit juice was in line with previous studies. This is because the active components of flavonoids can reduce the absorption of glucose and fructose from the intestine. Meanwhile, blood glucose levels increased because respondents had not implemented food management with the 3J principle and ate large portions.Recommendation: Giving 250 ml of red dragon fruit juice can be used as an additional menu and/or snack to manage blood sugar levels
