This article examines the problem of protecting women's rights in Africa. The foundations and traditions of African society create a lot of obstacles to the socialization of women in a modern society. Many women are deprived of the most essential things - a decent education, access to all necessary health services, good treatment and social status, the ability to independently manage their lives, and participate in government. African states have adopted a number of acts that enshrine fundamental rights and freedoms for women at the legislative level, but their implementation in practice faces a strong tradition and a lack of resources.
