The rotational structure in several bands of the β band system of PO has been reinvestigated in order to study the various perturbations in the higher vibrational levels of the B2∑+ state. In addition to the already known rotational perturbations in the 6th and 7th levels new perturbations have been detected in the 8th vibrational level. These new perturbations are explained as being due to the a4πi state. Approximate constants for this state have been obtained
