Students’ Perceptions and Obstacles Toward Online Learning Media As An English Learning Tool During Covid-19 Pandemic (A Study At MAN 2 Kudus In The Academic Year of 2020/2021)

To mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the education sector, technology, especially the internet, smartphones, and laptops, is useful for students and teachers alike to support distance learning. Thus, this study attempts to analyze MAN 2 Kudus XI grade language class students’ perceptions, and obstacles toward online learning media as an English learning tools during Covid-19. The approach of this research is descriptive qualitative approach. Two techniques were used to gather the data required for this research; observations and interviews. The study revealed, the use of various online learning media to teach English during the COVID-19 pandemic based on student’s perspectives is beneficial. Students' desire for learning and interest are low during the COVID-19 outbreak, which increases student excitement for studying through various online learning media. However, they still encounter challenges, such as technical issue, time management and self-motivation. Some attempts have been made by these students to overcome it, such as: turned off the video when doing video conferences to save quota and better connection, arranged breaks, and focus on learning as scheduled, and always reminded themselves of their future goals
